Getting Things Done NOW

Wednesday, January 14, 2015
“New Year New Me” How many times have you heard someone say that? Or maybe you’ve even told yourself that.  When the new year comes around, people start to find so many things about themselves and their life that they want to change.  But why do we feel the need to wait until a new year to start fresh?  What’s holding us back? If you really truly wanted to change then why wait?  I think that’s always why i’ve never really believed in New Years resolutions.  While it is great to make goals and strive to reach them during the year, you don’t have to wait!

Make your goals NOW,
be who you really want to be NOW,
figure out the people you want to be in your life NOW,
learn who no longer needs to be in your life NOW,
start eating healthy NOW,
exercise everyday NOW,
work hard and then go out and have fun NOW,
realize that life is way too short to constantly be waiting for a new year to start fresh!
I think that’s why I’ve always loved fashion.  It allows us to show the people we come into contact with everyday, who we truly are.  As soon as you put together your favorite outfit and slip it on, you instantly feel like that person you want to be. The right outfit makes you feel unstoppable - almost as if you could take over the whole world.   When you’re wearing something you love, it gives you the power to conquer your dreams and goals NOW.

The other night I visited my favorite location of DownTown San Antonio - The Pearl Brewery.  Although I go down there many times each month, I had never explored it at night.  It was absolutely beautiful.  I sat on a little table outside drinking my coffee as I started to people watch.  There was so much laughter and talking happening all around me, I found it to be fascinating.  I had no idea who these people around me were or what they were talking about, but I do know they were enjoying their life NOW and that is something we should all strive to always do.
I decided to go for a very 90’s grunge meets modern sporty in this outfit.  This amazing distressed denim jacket with sheer tights gave a hard core look that I am in love with!
Under the jacket is a simple white V-neck tee with layered necklaces for a more put together look. The sporty side of the outfit comes from the ankle high Nike socks and body con skirt that says “Title Boxing”.  I found this unique skirt at a thrift store a few months ago and it is currently one of my favorite pieces in my closet!  While wearing this outfit, I felt so free yet so in control - I just wanted to take on the whole world that night!

WHERE ARE THE CREPES?

Monday, December 15, 2014

One of my favorite things to do on Saturday mornings is visit my local farmers market at the Pearl Brewery.  There are so many fresh fruits and vegetables to choose from and the venders are so sweet!  The highlight to this farmers market for me is stopping by the table where they make and sell fresh crêpes! As soon as I got to the market I literally ran to the section where they usually set up, only to find that no one was there....NO ONE WAS THERE SELLING CREPES.  IT WAS SO TRAGIC.

Since there were no crêpes to be found, I had to settle for a blueberry lemon muffin and coffee..which were still equally delicious!

"LAST MINUTE" IS MY MIDDLE NAME

Monday, December 8, 2014

// boots: dsw // jeans: target // shirt: american eagle // bag: thrifted //

Took a walk downtown San Antonio, Texas to take some photos for a last minute art project that I had due.  Decided to wear my comfortable yet cute buckle ankle boots that I got at DSW last year, I wear these pretty much everyday!

and of course when you walk around all day it means you need to eat something delicious! This chocolate chip coffee cake from Einstein Bros Bagels was literally the best coffee cake I have ever eaten in my life...

WHY YOU'RE NOT BECOMING WHO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE

Thursday, December 4, 2014

A couple weeks ago it hit me really hard.  There was always this nagging at the back of my mind telling me that I wasn't at my full potential, that I knew I could be so much more.  It wasn't until recently that I really realized that dang, I am not completely who I want to be.  I always had this image when I was younger that by this time in my life I would be so much more outgoing, daring, and adventurous (3 things that I had never been in my life before). So why wasn't I this person?

There are steps you can take to make you look like you've got it all together and make everyone believe you're comfortable with who you are.  For instance, I'm all for the idea of a dramatic style change or doing something crazy with your hair to start off the adventure to find yourself, but do these outward changes truly change who you are on the inside?  The straight up truth to that is simply "no".  While amping up your fashion game and changing certain things about your appearance can boost your self confidence and start your journey to reaching your full potential, these things alone are not enough.  In order to become the person you want to be...

  • You have to push yourself as far as you can go
  • You have to learn to take risks and not be afraid to learn from mistakes
  • You have to be the one to get over that fear that's holding you back
  • You have to WANT to see a change in yourself and then make it happen.
Once you realize that reaching your full potential doesn't happen without work, then that's when you realize that you have to get up and do what needs to be done.

TIL DEATH...

Monday, December 1, 2014

//boots: thrifted // leggings: forever 21 // envelope skirt: forever 21 // mesh jacket: love culture // striped crop top: agaci // coat: pacsun (kendall & kylie collection) //

When you see a black and white stair case, take pictures!  Actually these stairs were inside a parking garage in Austin, TX (I'd just like to know why it's so expensive to park a car for a few hours). Anyways, I had just bought this super fuzzy coat and couldn't wait to wear it! I actually had so many people ask me if they could just touch it.  Of course all black everything with some white stripes for some contrast.

Also found this gorgeous artwork painted on the side of one of the main streets.  "Til Death Do Us Part".  I thought it was just so unique and beautiful.

BLENDERS & BOWLS

Friday, November 28, 2014

Took a little day trip up to Austin, TX with a friend this past week and we stopped to try a great little place downtown called Blenders And Bowls.

What was cool about this urban little spot was that it was actually connected to a really cute yoga studio.  As soon as you walked in you could just feel the tranquility, kind of made me want to sign up for a yoga class!

Basically, you choose between a blender (refreshing smoothie) or an açaí bowl (a thick blend of açaí berry, temp granola, fresh fruit, and honey).  You can also choose vegan and gluten free upon request.  Everything tastes so fresh and filling you can't go wrong in trying either one (or both)!

Classy Sunday's

Sunday, November 23, 2014

//shoes: bakers // jeans: guess // high neck line shirt: thrifted //
// mesh jacket: love culture // bag: target //

When it comes to Sunday's I usually like to go for a laid back yet classy feel.  The high neck line shirt gives a sophisticated look, yet the mesh jacket gives the right amount of edge.  This was the first time I had ever worn these shoes and they are a bit harder to walk in than I thought! However, you can just never go wrong with a black chunky wedge.

Enjoy your week!
